A quick rundown of the basics — every knob also shows this same text if you press and hold it (or hover, on desktop).
What each knob does

On by default so you can hear yourself while tracking. Headphones only — turn this off if you're on speakers, or you'll get feedback.
Off by default — turn on if you want a little reverb while you track. Never affects your recorded take either way.
Tap this, then tap TAP (or hit spacebar) right when you hear each of the 6 clicks that play. It measures your real delay and uses it for every vocal you record from now on.
Tap Start, allow microphone access, and sing. Your take drops straight into the chain below.
⚠️ Bluetooth detected — the delay it adds can drift your vocal out of time with the beat. Wired headphones (or your interface) are much more reliable while recording.
🎚️ Audio interface detected — turning off “Hear yourself while tracking” above often clears up crackle or static while you record.
Vocal Mixer
Balances levels, pan and tone across every track (and the beat, if one's loaded) in one tap. Undoable.
Tap ☆ Make Lead on any track to choose your lead vocal.

Vocal Controls
Every vocal gets its own full effects chain. Pick a track, then dial in its knobs.
Gently press and hold a knob, then slide up to increase the effect or slide down to decrease it.
Hover over a knob on computer, or double-tap it on mobile, to see its description.
Set your song's key so Tune only snaps to notes that fit it.
M5tar & Jewels: each engineer's own signature touch — an Unlimited-plan feature (Mix subscribers from before this changed keep it too).
Auto-Master (LUFS)
Plays the track through, measures real integrated loudness (ITU-R BS.1770), and sets Output Gain to hit your target.
Downloads a real file encoded right in your browser — MP3 for easy sharing, or WAV (24-bit, uncompressed) for the cleanest quality to bring into another DAW. Capturing the audio happens in real time, so it takes as long as the track; encoding after that is quick.
Unlimited: Export Stems downloads every processed vocal as its own 24-bit WAV (in one .zip), lined up from the start of the song, so you can finish the mix in any DAW.
Behind The Chain
Gemstar runs on two studios' worth of ears — both engineering since 2016.
M5tar Studio · Mixing & Production
Mixing and producing vocals since 2016, based in NYC. Built the chain behind this tool from real sessions, not presets.
Gemsquad Production · Vocals & Engineering
Singer and audio engineer, trained since 2016. Runs Gemsquad Production and shaped the vocal-first side of this chain.

Every plan runs the full vocal chain — Mix builds on that with the Full Song Mix; Unlimited adds both engineers' signature knobs too.

Help
Quick answers to the questions we hear most.
A vocal processing studio that runs right in your browser, built by engineers M5tar and Jewels. Upload or record a vocal, dial in the knobs or pick a preset, then export an MP3 or 24-bit WAV.
No. Everything runs live in your browser on your own device, and your audio is never uploaded to a server. An up-to-date Chrome, Safari, Edge or Firefox works best.
Yes, on Mix and Unlimited. Plug it in, tap Record Vocal, and the input picker under the timer auto-selects your interface. If it still records from the computer mic, choose the interface in that dropdown and allow microphone access for the site. On Starter, Gemstar records from your computer's default input, so set your interface as the input in your computer's sound settings.
Gemstar records raw, unprocessed audio on purpose — its own Punch/Bass/etc. chain does the shaping, so set your gain at the source (your interface's preamp, or your computer/phone's input level) so the meter sits well below clipping; a quiet take is much easier to fix than a clipped one. Singing to a beat? Wear headphones so it doesn't bleed into the mic. On phone, use a wired headset mic if you have one and turn on Do Not Disturb. Not happy with a take? Tap 🎤 Re-record right on that track to redo it in place — Undo brings the old one back for a few seconds after.
On Starter (3 tracks), Mix (5 tracks) and Unlimited (8 tracks) you can drop several vocal files at once. Tap ☆ Make Lead to choose your lead, use 🎛 FX to give each vocal its own full effects chain, and set pan, mute, solo or a one-tap role (Background, Double, Ad-lib) on every track.
Tap the timeline under the waveform to choose where playback starts, or drag across it to select a section. Dragging turns Loop on, so that section repeats while you dial in the knobs.
That's the Speed (Tune) knob, which is high in the Auto-Tuned preset. Turn Speed down for a gentler glide and raise Humanize for a more natural sound.
Check your volume and that the browser tab isn't muted, then reload. If you use an audio interface, make sure your computer's sound output is set to what you're listening on. Still stuck? Email Gemstaraudio@gmail.com.
Starter ($19/mo): the full core vocal chain, 3 vocal tracks. Mix ($49/mo): Full Song Mix with your beat, 5 vocal tracks with their own effects chains, one-tap AI Mix, and Collab (invite friends to record on your tracks). Unlimited ($99/mo): everything in Mix (including AI Mix and Collab), the M5tar & Jewels signature knobs, 8 vocal tracks, unlimited songs, and 10% off your first 3 months. Every plan includes auto key detection for your beat.
Collab lets you invite a friend to record a layer over one of your tracks, from their phone or computer, with no account needed. You get an email, listen, accept or mute their layer, adjust its volume and timing, and download the full mix. Collab is included on Mix and Unlimited.
Yes, in the same browser. Your knobs, output gain, Auto-Tune key and language are saved automatically. Audio files aren't stored, but drop the same files again and each one picks its level, pan and knob settings back up.
